The Manual ~ Jo-ey Tang

A manual from the FBI is turned into a book of poetry, along with original microscopic and infrared imageries. The sculpted text is a meditation of surface and the infinitesimal space above and beneath surface, in the search for an evidence of evidence. Jo-ey Tang enacts the circulation and the absence of images and objects, as well as the life cycle of ideas. A work takes on various forms of photography, video, sculpture, painting, sound, text and “self-assigned tasks”, spanning many exhibitions and is often considered both the same and new work, in a constant process of building up and canceling out.

This publication was awarded the “First Prize” in the ROOKIE contest (June 2012, www.r-o-o-k-i-e.com), organised by City Gallery Arsenal, Poznan and Morava Publishing House.
